About Temple of Fun

Location: Kelham Island, Sheffield
Website: templeof.fun

Temple of Fun is a creative bar, restaurant, and venue in Sheffield’s Kelham Island, known for its industrial aesthetic, vegan menu, and vibrant atmosphere. Owned by Bring Me The Horizon’s Oli Sykes, it’s packed with personality, from the concrete floors and exposed beams to the neon glow and music-filled energy.

If you’re dreaming of a wedding that feels dramatic, historic, and a little bit otherworldly: Bamburgh Castle is it.

Perched high on the Northumberland coastline with sea views, crumbling stone walls, and cinematic light, it’s a venue that instantly makes you feel like you’ve stepped into your own storybook.

I’ve had the chance to create wedding-day looks looks inside these walls, and honestly? It’s pure magic! Perfect for if you’re leaning into dark romance with deep berry tones or going ethereal and glowy to contrast the stone and sea breeze.

My take on Temple of Fun (as a Makeup Artist)

If you’re planning your wedding at Temple of Fun, you’re probably not the type who wants a cookie-cutter day, and I love that for you.

It’s bold, creative, industrial, and full of personality. Get married surrounded by tattoos, vegan tacos, or your favourite people in Docs and sequins, … whichever theme you choose, Temple of Fun is one of Sheffield’s most original wedding spaces and it’s made for couples who want something different.

As a Sheffield-based wedding makeup artist who specialises in alternative, gothic, and creative makeup, this venue honestly feels like home. I’ve done looks here that range from soft romantic grunge to full glam goddess energy and every single one feels right at home among the neon lights and industrial walls.

Bridal look ideas

1) The Grunge Goddess
Smoked-out liner, dewy skin, muted lips; effortless, raw, but striking.

2) The Alt Soon-to-be-wed Glow-Up
Bold shimmer eyes, structured highlight, full lashes, and sculpted cheeks. Pairs perfectly with statement accessories and tattoo reveals.

3) The Soft Rebel
Barely-there foundation, smudged metallic liner, and a soft lip tint. Great for elopements or smaller gatherings in Temple’s low light.

Getting ready at Temple of Fun

Temple of Fun doesn’t have a traditional wedding suite (which honestly adds to its charm), but Sheffield has loads of nearby hotels and apartments that are perfect for prep. I usually recommend somewhere with big windows and neutral walls as the light is key for keeping skin tones true-to-colour and helping your photographer capture those calm morning moments.

My typical timing for a Temple of Fun wedding morning looks like this:

  • 08:00 HMUA arrival & kit setup

  • 08:15–10:00 Bridesmaid 1 + MOB makeup

  • 10:00–11:30 Bridesmaid 2 + Bridesmaid 3 makeup

  • 11:30–12:30 Soon-to-be-wed makeup (last for freshness)

  • 12:30–12:50 Touch-ups, lipstick top-up, glitter check (optional but encouraged)

  • 13:00 Head to venue for ceremony or photos
